Collection: Original Works

I invite you to pause, observe, and listen. Typically, I begin my process with one or two colours of acrylic paint, sketching out compositions with diluted acrylics. I enjoy pre-mixing colours on my palette and using broad brushes. Often, I manage multiple pieces simultaneously, focusing gradually on the nuances of painting—finding a balance between push and pull dynamics. As I delve into each work, it feels akin to navigating a physical space within my mind. My gaze wanders, settling on moments where I delve into the intricacies of the piece.

Creating a new body of work is always gratifying. Over the past weeks, since returning from Johannesburg, where I exhibited at the fair, I have consistently developed my new originals. There is a discernible rhythm flowing through these pieces, a rhythm that has influenced my approach and nurtures a more contemplative and observant method of producing. I find solace in the interconnectedness of the works—a continual dialogue with myself and the abstract.

Once dry, I delicately integrate pencil and Caran D'Ache crayons into the paintings, aiming to subtly evoke memories through layers of concealment and revelation. My aspiration is that these works invite viewers to pause and remember, offering both a place of repose and a catalyst for inquiry.
