Little Karoo

Little Karoo is an original contemporary landscape painting by Cape Town artist Amy Ayanda Lester, inspired by the shifting light, colour, and atmosphere of South Africa’s Swartberg region. 

Working between observation and abstraction, Amy layers acrylic paint and hand-drawn mark-making to create a dreamlike landscape that feels both intimate and expansive. Soft blues, earthy tones, and gestural movement evoke memory, rest, and emotional connection to place.

Created in Amy Lester’s home studio in Cape Town, South Africa, this one of a kind artwork reflects her ongoing exploration of landscape, nature, and imagined worlds.
